Anatomy of a web site
Do you know the parts of a web site?
Internet Marketing
"Today there will be millions of searches performed on the Internet, many of them looking for exactly what you are selling" (SEO.com, 2009).
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the method used to get a business web site at its highest placement on popular search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. "Search is the connectivity that links everyone and everything on the Internet" (PR News 2008). SEO has proven to be one of the most cost-effective forms of marketing available.
Half of all purchases in the business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce category are proceeded by a web search (Melage, 2007)
Types of SEO
There are two basic types of SEO:
(1) Organic SEO - Organic results are generated based on algorithms and backlinks that determine the prominence of their placement.
(2) Pay-Per-Click (PPC) - paid searches where the results are based on price and relevance.
In comparison of the two, paid search offers the benefit of immediate, measurable results as well as content placement control. Organic benefits are the perception that they are "pure" and "independent." On the downside
of each type of search, with pay per click you obviously have to pay every time your PPC ad link is clicked and for organic you have a severe limit in control in comparison to paid search. Additionally, PPC ads are immediately posted on the right column of the search engine page results. Organic SEO on the other hand, takes a very long time, weeks to months, before the results begin to appear. theme.
